 Ellen H. Reames

Ellen H. Reames is Professor of Educational Leadership at Auburn University. Her work centers on mentoring for well-being through a positive psychology lens and building leadership preparation partnerships. She has authored five books, including The Art and Science of Mentoring (2021) and Educational Leadership Program Coordinators: Partnership Creators through Social Connectedness (2025), plus sixty-nine articles and book chapters.

A member of the Alabama New Principals Mentoring Program Design Team, she designed the state-funded, two-year initiative supporting new principals. Her team trains mentors using a framework integrating Kram’s concepts of personal and professional development with Seligman’s PERMA Model. She also curates the Emerald Book Series, Dimensions of Leadership and Institutional Success: Exploring Connections and Partnerships, promoting scholarship in leadership and institutional well-being.

  • Developed the Alabama New Principal Mentoring Program (ANPMP)
  • Developed the Mentoring Program for the Alabama Rural Aspiring Leaders Academy (US Dept. of Education Grant Awarded to Auburn University 2017-2019)
  • Council of Leaders of Alabama Schools (CLAS) Presentations on Mentoring for Wellbeing (2021- present).
  • Regularly provide professional development for school districts regarding teacher and principal mentoring.
